Broadcast Ops Guide: Standby Audio and Restarting Primary ON-AIR

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to switch over standby audio and restart the primary ON-AIR workstation. It covers the process of transitioning between the primary ON-AIR workstation and the standby ON-AIR workstation, adjusting logs, automating the standby ON-AIR, and restarting the primary ON-AIR workstation. Following this guide ensures a smooth and seamless broadcast for troubleshooting minor problems in the control room without affecting the listener experience.


Tip: Rebooting the Primary Automation System resolves a number of common problems that occur in the Control Room.
eg:
Automation System crashes or hangs and
 Remote Start Commands for the Audio Board stop working

Launching the Standby Automation System

1. Double-click Standby ON-AIR

2. Click iMediaTouch logo in the top-right corner of the application

3. Click Reload Log

4. Click OK to confirm

5. Click Remove to adjust the log on the Standby ON-AIR to segue with the Primary ON-AIR
 Repeat as needed

Tip: Make sure AUTO OFF is engaged (White) on the Primary ON-AIR so that the next media asset does not start automatically

6. Click Start on the Standby ON-AIR when the media asset on the Primary ON-AIR has finished or faded out

7. (Optional) Click AUTO OFF to fully automate the Standby ON-AIR

Closing the ON-AIR application and Rebooting the Workstation

8. Back on the Primary ON-AIR Click iMediaTouch icon in the top-right corner of the application

9. Click QUIT ON-AIR

10. Click OK

Tip: Pot down the PTA channels on the Audio Board
 When the Workstation has restarted and the ON-AIR application has loaded, test that the Remote Start Commands work and that application is working as expected

11. Open the Windows Start Menu

12. Click Power

13. Click Restart

Warning: Once the Primary ON-AIR Workstation finishes rebooting, it will log in automatically, after a delay in loading the audio card, it will launch the ON-AIR application
ON-AIR will be in AUTO-ON

Switch back to the Primary ON-Air Workstation

14. Repeat steps 1-7 to match the log on the Primary ON-AIR with the Standby ON-AIR and transition back to the Primary ON-AIR Workstation
